At age 20: avoid sunburn
Obviously, lounging in the sun for hours in the garden is more than tempting. What is less tempting is being burnt to a crisp. "Bad" sun exposure (meaning without the right protection and with no attention paid to prohibited times, between 11am and 4pm) means you run the risk not just of being tomato-red (thanks UVB rays), but also of altering your skin in the long term (photoaging, allergies, dark spots, etc.), mainly due to UVA rays. This is why it is crucial to apply sun protection every two hours, in the form of a product that is adapted to your skin type, to cover up and to avoid sun exposure at the most dangerous times.
At age 30: prevent fine lines and wrinkles
Slight loss of firmness, the first little wrinkles and fine lines… Photoaging is under way. Make sure you don't help this process along in the summer! To defend against photoaging, go for a sun protection product that is tailored to you and that defends against UVA – the most sinister rays for your skin. These rays penetrate deeply, alter skin quality and are responsible for a host of problems, even skin cancer. To make sure you reapply your sun protection as regularly as possible (at least every two hours), pick your favourite texture: liquid, spray, mist, oil, milk… There's something for everyone!
At age 40: don't let deep wrinkles settle in
For starters, there is one anti aging weapon you cannot forget: your sunglasses! The more you frown in the glare of the sun, the more your face will be marked by wrinkles… You should also minimise your sun exposure (the sun is enemy no. 1 in the fight against face aging) and apply a product stuffed with anti aging ingredients. Of course, when you get back from a day at the beach, applying an after-sun product will help to repair skin roughed up by the sun and prolong your tan.
At age 50: put the brakes on dark spots
Located on the face, hands and chest, dark spots are generally the visible result of excessive sun exposure. To treat this pigment dysfunction linked to an imbalance in the production and distribution of melanin in the epidermis, go for an anti aging, anti dark spot product with high sun protection, which will both help to block UV rays and inhibit the process of melanogenesis (melanin synthesis in melanocyte cells). This will help you to combat face aging by reducing existing dark spots and preventing new ones.
